[Scirehab-forum] 2011 SCI Wellness Summit October 22

Greetings:

 

The SCI Forum and the SCI Transitions and Wellness Program are presenting a free half-day educational program for individuals with spinal cord injuries, family members, caregivers and health professionals:

 

What:              2011 Spinal Cord Injury Wellness Summit

 

When:              Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

Where:            South Campus Center, 3rd Floor
University of Washington
1601 NE Columbia Rd., Seattle, WA 98195
(Note: parking on UW campus is free after 12 noon.
)

 

Register:          The SCI Wellness Summit is free, but registration is required.

Whether you are recently injured or have a long-standing spinal cord injury, this half-day educational program will provide information and resources that can help you stay healthy and live well with a spinal cord injury. There will be several presentations to choose from—including talks on pain, spasticity, sexual health, employment and recreation—all given by experts from the UW Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.  Certificates for continuing education hours will be available for physical and occupational therapists.

 

·         Please note: there will be no SCI Forum on the usual second Tuesday in October!

[Scirehab-forum] Spinal Cord Injury Support and Information Group - Thursday September 15

Individuals with spinal cord injuries and their family members and caregivers are invited to attend the next Spinal Cord Injury Support and Information Group, which will take place:

 

·         Thursday, September 15, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm

·         Harborview Medical Center  (4-West Patient & Family Room, across from the nurses' station). 

 

This is not a therapy group, but rather an opportunity to share stories and experiences, ask questions and get real-life answers. You can also just listen to fellow members of the spinal cord injury community.

 

Monthly Meetings at Harborview Medical Center:

 

·         3rd Thursday of each month

·         12:30 to 1:30 pm

·         4-West Patient & Family Room (across from the nurses' station)

Instead of our usual SCI Forum evening program in October, the Northwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury System and the UW Medicine SCI Transitions and Wellness Program are joining forces to present the:

Spinal Cord Injury Wellness Summit

Saturday, October 22, 2011

1:00 to 4:00 pm.

at

University of Washington Medical Center

 

This event will offer presentations on staying healthy and living well with a spinal cord injury, with topics on pain, spasticity, weight management, sexual health and more. Individuals with SCI, family members, caregivers and health professionals are welcome to attend. The program is free.

 

Please save the date! Details about the program and how to register will be sent in a separate email later this month.
