Using research studies, advice from ultralight wheelchair users, personal inpatient rehab experience, and video clips of wheelchair users, Harborview physical therapist Elisa Smith will provide practical tips on perfecting ultralight wheelchair skills, including wheelies for curbs and maneuvering in small restrooms, elevators, on gravel roads and escalators. Then, Harborview physical therapist Dave Colescott will discuss the skills needed to drive your power wheelchair in difficult situations, such as small spaces, around tight corners, over curbs, or up hills in the rain. Power wheelchair users will provide tips and demonstrations on conquering these challenges. Free parking will be provided for this event.
